The Pack River General Store sign and green-roofed storefront on Rapid Lightning Road

Est. 1975 · Rapid Lightning Road

Real cooking, twelve miles from town.

A general store with a chef in the back. House cured and smoked meats, sandwiches worth the drive, and a deli case that changes with the season.

One stop, three reasons

Kitchen, counter and country store

Alex trained at the California Culinary Academy and cooked eight years around the East Bay before coming home. What that buys you out here is comfort food made properly — and a butcher case most towns this size don't get.

The Kitchen

Salads, handhelds and baskets from 11am to close. Half-pound Woods Meats burgers, house made pastrami on the Reuben, beer battered Alaskan cod.

General Store

Groceries, fuel, propane and showers. The practical stuff that makes Rapid Lightning Road work, still doing the job it has since 1975.

A Sandpoint tradition

Fifty years on the same corner

Alex and Brittany Jacobson took over in June 2018 from Alex's mother Arlene, who ran the place for eighteen years before that.

Brittany grew up in Sandpoint and has fifteen years in the industry; she runs the front of house and the catering side. Alex cooks. They source from regional farms and purveyors wherever the season allows, and they cure and smoke almost everything in-house.
